Lenoir executive chef and co-owner Todd Duplechan has always kept a fish curry on the menu of his and wife Jessica Maher’s wonderful South Austin hot-weather foods restaurant as something of an homage to his time working under mentor chef Floyd Cardoz at Union Square Hospitality Group’s Tabla in New York City.

The chef’s love for the subcontinent has expanded with the opening of Vixen’s Wedding, a restaurant dedicated to the flavors of Goa and that Indian state's Portuguese influences. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the recently opened Arrive East Austin hotel at 1813 E. Sixth St.

The new restaurant, like former Austin #1 Lenoir, will source local proteins, vegetables and grains, and create a shareable menu that includes seafood and meat dishes flavored with spices from the southwestern Indian state. Sample menu items include smoky beet dosa with curry leaf aioli pork buns with tamarind and cilantro chutney, roasted fish thali with green curry and large format meat dishes. Given the excellence of Lenoir’s wine list, diners can also likely expect the dozens of bottles on Vixen Wedding’s wine list to pair well with the spice and heat of the dishes.

Duplechan, a Dallas native with familial roots in Louisiana, is also overseeing with Maher the hotel’s casual Lefty’s Brick Bar, a full bar serving Cajun-inspired snacks like boudin balls, a fried shrimp cross between a banh mi and po’boy and more.

The culinary team at both restaurants also includes executive chef Greg Zanotti, former chef de cuisine at Portland standout Castagna; general manager Adam Nystrom, recently of award-winning Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York; and executive pastry chef Sarah Prieto, formerly of Counter 357 and Barley Swine.

Vixen’s Wedding is open 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. Lefty’s Brick Bar is open 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurants offer discounted valet parking at the hotel, but parking is limited. As of Wednesday, the website for Vixen's Wedding was not operational, but the page will eventually live at

This is the first Texas location for the Arrive Hotels group, which also operated properties in Palm Springs, Phoenix, Memphis and Wilmington.
