Crazy Crab seafood restaurant opens at Fountains at Farah, second El Paso location planned
Crazy Crab, a Michigan-based franchise, opened Aug. 13 at the Fountains at Farah, in the former Bricktown Tap House location.
The franchise is owned by Mark Liu and Kelly Feng, who have eight locations in Michigan, with plans for two more. The franchise began in December 2019 and flourished during the pandemic of 2020 with to-go service.
In a podcast with Annie's Adventures, Liu said he came in October to do market research and found great potential for the seafood restaurant in El Paso, with neighboring Juárez and Las Cruces.
"There's not much of similar products, seafood wise. We see big potential," Liu said.
Feng, who is a newer partner, said the restaurant is going to offer Cajun seafood, which is always a fun experience.
"It's our own brand, where you get to get your hands in a big bag of boiled seafood, all different flavors, really get messy and really enjoy with the family and friends," she said on the podcast.
The restaurant menu also offers a variety of seafood, including lobster tail, blue crab, black and green mussels, shrimp, crawfish and snow crab, with a variety of sauces, including Cajun, lemon pepper and garlic.
They also are considering adding a tank with live seafood, such as king crab.
The partners also have plans to open a second location at the former Hong Kong Buffett, at 1188 N. Yarbrough Drive.
The ambitious business partners also plan to open a different business, Kung Fu Tea, a bobo tea chain, at the Fountains in the near future.
