The party is starting: where to celebrate Mardi Gras in Austin

Check out these Mardi Gras parties and events:


Austin Beer Garden Brewing’s Mardi Gras Dog Parade: Dress up your pup for a dog-themed Mardi Gras party at Austin Beer and Garden Brewing (1305 W. Oltorf St.). The event will feature food, music and a parade taking place 4 p.m. in the ABGB parking lot. Pug Rescue Austin will be taking donations.

Mardi Gras Bar Crawl: Sixth Street will be transformed into Bourbon Street. Registration is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Blind Pig Pub (317 E. Sixth St.). Tickets ($20) include beads, masquerade mask, and discounted drinks and food.

Mardi Gras Mambo at The Hive: Celebrate Mardi Gras with live music, free burgers and kids crafts for free from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hive (10542 Menchaca Road).


Mardi Gras Cosmic Boil: The first ever cosmic boil will celebrate with crawfish, shrimp, snow crab legs and New Orleans-style drink specials. The event is brought to you by Eastside Boilers and Cosmic Coffee at 1 p.m. at Cosmic Coffee (121 Pickle Road). $10-$33.


4 on Fat Tuesday: For its 4-year anniversary, Parlor and Yard is hosting a free Mardi Gras event with live music, Cajun food and king cake cheesecake bites starting at 6 p.m.

18th Annual Mardi Gras Party: Cypress Grill (4404 W. William Cannon Drive) invites you to a South Austin bash starting at 5 p.m. with kid face painting and Zydeco music at 6:30 p.m. with drink specials and New Orleans king cakes.

Fat Thirsty Tuesday: Lefty’s Brick Bar (1813 East Sixth St.) is hosting a party for “bad decisions” with Louisiana eats, booze and Interrobang Brass Band. Event begins at 5 p.m. and tickets start at $40.

Fat Tuesday Crawfish Boil: Head over to Scholz Garten (1607 San Jacinto Blvd) for its second annual Fat Tuesday Crawfish Boil for hot crawfish, live music and drink specials from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Fat Tuesday with Jim Beam: Also on Sixth Street, Easy Tiger (709 E. Sixth St.) is celebrating Mardi Gras with a Jim Beam Distillery speakeasy pop-up bar. The celebration will feature drink specials and DJ Gross Y’all at 6 p.m.

Whisler’s Fat Tuesday: More cocktails, crawfish and king cake can be found at Whisler’s (1816 E. Sixth St.) annual Fat Tuesday celebration, starting at 3 p.m.
