Austin has so many bachelorette parties, there's a beer named after them
You probably already knew that everyone is moving to Austin these days. But did you know our city is also a popular bachelorette party destination? It's true, and at least one local brewery has embraced it.
A new survey by VacationRenter cited four U.S. cities, not including the obvious choice of Las Vegas, as worth exploring on bachelor and bachelorette parties — and yes, Austin was first on that list thanks to our outdoor gems like Barton Springs Pool and Mount Bonnell and fun shopping spots like South Congress Avenue. (There was no mention of Sixth Street in the article, but presumably that shot-bar revelry is still a thing.)
Austin is also home to more breweries than any other city in Texas, according to the Brewers Association. Not all of them are located in the downtown area where bachelorette parties are likely to happen, of course. At least one good one is, however, and knows it: Zilker Brewing. Located along a well-trafficked stretch of East Sixth Street, Zilker has some good sports on staff that went so far as to name a beer after one of their biggest customer groups.
The new Bachelorette Party was tapped last Friday as a wheat beer with passion fruit puree, just in time for the peak of wedding season.
"We do get a ton of bachelorette parties and bachelor parties at our brewery," according to Zilker. "We wanted to make something fun and relevant to help them celebrate and have a good time while in Austin."
Zilker excels in making hazy, juicy IPAs like the playfully named Scooter Wasteland that released late last year with oats and lactose. Though Bachelorette Party is of a very different style, it's still got that signature Zilker haze, as a "modern take on the wheat beer using our hazy beer base profile with added fruit puree."
