There's a Willie-themed Austin brunch on 4/20, of course
Since 4/20 falls on a Saturday this year, there are sure to be a whole bunch of weekend events and specials around town tied to cannabis culture — including, but by no means limited to, Hopddoddy's one-day-only burger made with a pizza bagel bun and deep fried Funyon mayo.
One downtown hotel is also hosting what might well be (to put it bluntly) the most Austin of all 4/20-related events: a Willie Nelson-themed brunch. Our favorite country singer, he of "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die" fame, is getting the spotlight at Trace at the W, a classy joint that tends to host all manner of themed brunches throughout the year.
From 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20, sit back and enjoy specialty cocktails and bites while listening to some of Willie's biggest hits. It's in a fitting location: Trace at the W's outdoor patio is not quite within spitting distance but certainly within stumbling distance of the Willie Nelson statue at the corner of Lavaca and West Second streets. And what better way is there to celebrate the day devoted to reefer madness than to start it by beholding the one and only Willie Nelson?
There's no word yet on what the themed cocktails or food menu will be, but go ahead and expect, food-wise at least, lots and lots of carbs. And might we suggest "Whiskey River" as a cocktail name?
Reservations are recommended. These brunches get busy. For more information, visit traceaustin.com/calendar.
