'Crazy Rich Asians' author Kevin Kwan coming to Long Center
The Long Center and the Austin Asian American Film Festival will welcome Kevin Kwan, author of the bestselling "Crazy Rich Asians" book series, to the Dell Hall stage at 8 p.m. Nov. 17, in conversation with journalist Jeff Yang.
Kwan’s breakout novel, "Crazy Rich Asians," is a bit of a cultural phenomenon, topping bestseller lists worldwide and inspiring the top-grossing romantic comedy of the past 10 years. The movie version, which has grossed $173.2 million domestically, is the first modern story with an all-Asian cast and first Asian-American lead in 25 years.
Cultural journalist/author Yang will moderate the conversation. Jeff is well known for co-hosting the podcast "They Call Us Bruce" as well as penning the widely-read Vox article “The symbolism of Crazy Rich Asians’ pivotal mahjong scene, explained.” Yang is also the father of Hudson Yang, the star of the sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat," now in its fifth season.
Tickets are available at thelongcenter.org.
