Austin Playhouse season throws a spotlight on old favorites and fresh offerings

Austin Playhouse, which expects to move into new, permanent quarters in Northeast Austin by the end of 2020 at the earliest, has announced a season sweetened with old favorites and fresh offerings. The troupe, which traces its heritage back to Live Oak Theatre and the State Theater, will remain in its Austin Community College Highland venue through the 2019-2020 season.
Sept. 6-29: “Holmes and Watson.” Does the investigative duo reunite? We’ll see, won’t we?
No. 29-Dec. 22: “She Loves Me.” A candy box of a romantic musical.
Jan. 10-26, 2020: “Tiny Beautiful Things.” Based on a book by Cheryl Strayed (“Wild”).
April 3-26, 2020: “Indecent.” A risky play about a risky play.
May 29-June 28, 2020: “Arcadia.” Tom Stoppard’s masterpiece.
May 29-June 28: “Ada and the Engine.” Lauren Gunderson’s play produced in repertory with “Arcadia.”
