We got our first real look at the “9-1-1” spinoff set in Austin this week when Fox released a preview trailer for “9-1-1: Lone Star.”
The show (which is actually shot in California) stars Rob Lowe as Owen Strand, a firefighter who transfers from New York City to Austin with his son. Liv Tyler plays Michelle Blake, another firefighter.
The preview trailer features shots of firefighters climbing a ladder to a window of a burning home, Tyler and Lowe dancing in a honky tonk bar, and a massive explosion at what appears to be a refinery or chemical site. In another shot, a car’s side mirror shows a fast approaching dark cloud. An Austin fire department logo is also shown, but isn’t the same as the official logo. The Austin skyline serves as a backdrop for the show’s title before we see another shot of Lowe and Tyler in uniform.
The show will have a two-night debut, premiering Sunday, Jan. 19 next year after the NFL’s NFC championship.
