New Fort Worth restaurant promises doughnuts and beer

Mmm, doughnuts. Mmm, beer.

A new North Texas restaurant will be a hotspot for both.

Funkytown Donuts is opening up a new location, called Funkytown Donuts & Drafts, near Fort Worth’s Bass Performance Hall, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The restaurant was first announced in February, but is now taking job applications

On top of doughnuts, the shop will include cake doughnuts, craft brews, coffees and a cold coffee brew on tap.

Funkytown also sells vegan and gluten-free doughnuts on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The shop is known for their creative flavor combinations that rotate weekly. Items on the menu this week include Pebble Rocks, Nolan Express, Darkside of the Mousse and Maple and Candied Bacon.

Funkytown started out as a family-owned and operated food truck and then landed a storefront space in the downtown medical district of Fort Worth. Funkytown Donuts & Drafts will be the restaurants first new location.

No word yet on what kind of beer the shop will be serving, but hopefully they’ll pair nice with a good bear claw. And, if you don’t want to drive all the way up to Fort Worth, there are plenty of spots in Austin to get your doughnut fix, including Gordough’s, which also serves alcohol
