Austin is one of the best college towns in the country, according to this study
Longhorns, Hilltoppers, Riverbats, Rams and Tornadoes, you’re in luck: You’re living in one of the best college cities in the country.
According to a WalletHub report, Austin is the fifth most student-friendly city in the United States. The city didn’t fare so well on the lowest cost of living for young people (unsurprisingly) but it’s also not in the top five cities with the highest cost of living, so hey, silver lining.
The only better college towns than Austin were Provo, Utah; Rexburg, Idaho and Orlando, Fla., with Ann Arbor, Mich. snagging the No. 1 spot. You’ll notice, though, that all those cities aren’t quite as big: Austin was ranked the best large-size college city. The only other Texas cites in the top 30 were College Station (all the way down at No. 18 -- sorry, Aggies) and Plano at No. 22.
