For Halloween, Austin Animal Center hosts ‘Stranger Things’-themed adoption event

Dogs and cats of all sizes are available for a reduced $11 adoption fee as part of the Austin Animal Center's "Stranger Things"-themed adoption special this weekend.

Even the Austin Animal Center can’t resist the lure of the supernaturally good show “Stranger Things” — the no-kill shelter is hosting an adoption special this weekend through Oct. 31 called Shelter Things.

Yes, that’s right. Although the shelter cats and dogs won’t be appropriately costumed, you can be when you pick up your new pooch or feline for only $11, a lowered adoption fee for the Shelter Things promotion. It applies to animals of all kinds and sizes available at the shelter, not just dogs and cats.

“Families who come dressed like a character from ‘Stranger Things’ who adopt a pet during this promotion will have the opportunity to enter Castle Byers and take home supplies like, crates, bowls, toys (while supplies last). No Demogorgons, please, or any other masks; they scare the dogs and cats” is the actual awesome text of the Facebook post about the Halloween weekend adoption special starting on Oct. 28.

The Austin Animal Center isn’t just celebrating Halloween with Shelter Things. The shelter is near capacity and hoping that people are in the mood to adopt a pet. Stop into the center, at 7201 Levander Loop Bldg. A, between 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday-Tuesday to avail yourself of the Shelter Things promotion.

Season two of “Stranger Things” returns to Netflix on Oct. 27, and early reviews suggest it was worth the wait.
