Find local Latino artists at the Artisan Mercado the third Saturday of the month outside Mexic-Arte Museum.

Beginning May 20, every third Saturday of the month, local artists will be showcasing their work at the new Artisan Mercado. The market will be on the sidewalks outside Mexic-Arte Museum, 419 Congress Avenue, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Look to find jewelry, clothing, ceramics, glass, crafts and paintings from local Latino artists.

“Artists, like myself, are sometimes left out of mainstream shops and galleries because of our focus,” says Artisan Mercado coordinator Claudio Lopez, who owner of online jewelry boutique Athena Silversmith. “Likewise, local shoppers and tourists do not have access to unique Latino art and artisan goods.”

The market is sponsored by Mexic-Arte and the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department. facebook.com/artisanmercadoonCongressand5th
