If you’re tired of running Austin’s roads and trails, maybe what you need is a run through someplace exotic.

Like Morocco.

There, you can get back to the basics of what running is about - not the race bibs or timing chips, but the real essence of running.

Ruth England, co-owner of Rogue Running in Austin, led a group of runners to Morocco in March. She’s planning another group excursion there in March 2014. Participants will run between villages, through dramatic gorges, across the Sahara desert and in a dry lake bed.

“We did 10 days of running for 1 to 3 hours, lots of sight seeing, ate great food and met really nice people,” England said. “We will be adding trips over the next couple years, but this one was amazing.”

An information session to discuss the trip, which will cost $1,650 per person (airfare not included), is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 10 at Rogue, 500 San Marcos Street. If you are interested in the trip but can’t attend the info session, contact allison@roguerunning.com.
