Ride your bike to ACL

Here’s my number one Austin City Limits festival tip: Ride a bike.

It doesn’t matter if you pedal all the way from home or stuff your bike into a car, drive partway, park and ride the remaining mile or two.

It’s easier than circling downtown looking for a spot to stop or forking over $10 or $20 for a parking space for the night. Plus, it’s fun and you get some exercise.

Mellow Johnny’s bike shop will head up bike parking operations at the festival, which covers two weekends this year. (Oct. 4-6 and 11-13.) You can coast right up to either entrance - Barton Springs Road or Lady Bird Lake - and lock up your bike (just like a rock star, MJ’s points out.)

The bike shop will have mechanics and support on-site to perform emergency repairs, plus parts, locks, lights and other accessories for sale (cash only).
