Heads up, runners.
We’ve got a new marathon - and one more reason to train through the summer heat - in the neighborhood.
The Hill Country Marathon is set for Oct. 20 in Marble Falls.
The race will start at 7 a.m. at Marble Falls High School and cover an out-and-back paved road course along rolling country roads. Organizers already have dubbed the it “The Most Beautiful Marathon in Texas.”
If a full marathon’s not in the stars for you, the event includes a half marathon, 10K and Kids Fun Run, too. (I’m thinking about that half marathon myself…)
Josue Stephens, race director and owner of Fuego Y Agua, has partnered with Brad Quinn, race director of Capt’n Karl’s Night Time Trail Series, the City of Marble Falls, the Marble Falls Chamber of Commerce and Marble Falls school district to put on the race, according to a press release.
Entry fee is $115 for the marathon, $95 for the half, $60 for the 10K or $15 for the Kids Fun Run (fees will increase closer to race day). To register go to www.runthehillcountry.com.
If you use the discount code FITCITYHCM when you register you’ll get 10 percent off.
A portion of proceeds will benefit Serve Who Serve, a local nonprofit that offers assistance to local military families.
