Time to gear up for the most festive runs of the year, folks. Whether you’d rather join a jingling herd of bell-wearing runners, sprint through the Trail of Lights or cruise through the Mueller neighborhood alongside carolers, Austin’s got a run for you.

  • Austin Jingle Bell 5K. Each runner in this family-oriented run/walk gets a set of jingle bells to jangle while they trot through shop-lined streets. Keep an eye out for Santa, who has promised to attend. Race starts at 8 a.m. Dec. 1 at The Domain, 11410 Century Oaks Terrace. Benefits Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Entry fee is $35 for adults, $25 for youth 18 and under or $10 for the fun run. Sign up at http://yellowcheetah.com/race/303. (Use the code “fitcity” and get 15 percent off!)
  • 6th Annual Lights of Love 5K and Kids’ K. Wind your way through the festively-decorated Mueller neighborhood while listening to carolers at this holiday run. Benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas. Run starts at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the hangar at Mueller Central, 4550 Mueller Boulevard. Afterward, get your picture made with Santa Claus and Ronald McDonald and enjoy food, crafts, music and hot chocolate. Entry fee is $20 for children; $30 for adults. Register at www.lightsoflove5k.org.
  • Trail of Lights 5K Run/Walk. The best way to see the city’s famous Trail of Lights? By running through it, of course! Run alongside Santa, elves and maybe a few reindeer at this run, which finishes with a romp through the city’s biggest and brightest holiday lights display. Sponsored by Humana. Race starts at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Zilker Park. Registration is $35 for adults (increases by $5 Saturday) or $15 for children 12 and under. Sign up at www.AustinTrailofLights.org.
