The Thinkery, the new incarnation of The Austin Children’s Museum, opens Sunday, and that means it’ll be crowded at the Mueller development this weekend, site of a popular farmers’ market.

If you’re willing to brave the predicted chilly temperatures to get there, you’ll get to enjoy some pretty cool bicycles along with your veggies.

“Peddle for Produce: Bikefest at Mueller Farmers’ Market,” is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Browning Hangar off of Airport Boulevard, at 4550 Mueller Boulevard.

Three local bike groups will be on hand - Bike Austin, Austin Bike Zoo and Metrocycle Pedicabs, which will shuttle people from where they park to the market, where they can buy locally grown seasonal produce and food.

Bike Austin will provide secure bike valet, a minor repair bike work stand, and a booth where you can get tips and information about good bike routes in Austin. Free bicycle maps and larger route display maps will be available.

Austin Bike Zoo will bring of their creature-shaped bicycles - two butterflies and a bat - and kids can ride them free in a loop around the market, accompanied by a trained staff member.
