Ready to dip a paddle in the river?

The Colorado River Ramble and Family Water Festival kick off Sunday. The events - presented by the Expedition School and the Colorado River Alliance - put the focus on our beloved Colorado River, that green slice of happiness that cuts right through the center of Austin.

The Ramble, a standup paddle, canoe and kayak race, starts at 9 a.m. The race features a 1K kids race, a 1.5-mile SUP and Family Paddle, plus 5 and 10-mile SUP, canoe and kayak races. (Entry fees vary from $15 to $80, depending on category.)

The Family Water Festival gears up at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. with interactive environmental educational programs for kids and families, live music, food trailers and prize giveaways. Admission is free. Free standup paddle, canoe and kayak demonstrations are planned.
