The schedule for the fourth annual Austin Beer Week has been announced. The 10 day celebration of all things beer will take place October 25 through November 3.

In addition to your standard tappings, beer dinners, and tastings, there are more events this year that land just outside the box. You can check out the full schedule on their website, and below are a few of my picks for the week.

Several films are screening, including “Crafting a Nation” at Independence Brewing on Friday October 25 at 6 p.m., and the regional premiere of “Beer Hunter: The Movie,” a documentary about beer and whiskey journalist Michael Jackson, taking place at Uncle Billy’s on Wednesday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Black Star Co-Op is hosting a hop flavor analysis class on Wednesday, October 30 at 5 p.m., where you’ll get to know the several hop varieties used in the house Vulcan.

Mitch Steele from Stone Brewing will be in town to sign copies of his new book “IPA: Brewing Techniques, Recipes and the Evolution of the India Pale Ale,” on Friday October 25 at 8 p.m.

Not quite beer, but also a fermented beverage, Austin Eastciders is making a few appearences throughout the week; they’re hosting a gluten free night at Snack Bar on Tuesday, October 29 at 7 p.m., a cider and BBQ dinner at Freedmen’s on Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m., and the official Gold Top launch party takes place on Saturday, November 2 at the cidery.

Finally, Jester King’s Funk and Sour Fest will take place on Sunday, October 27 at noon.

Of course, those are just my highlights, so check out the full schedule and start prepping your livers.
