This one’s for the dogs.

The Rogue Rescue Run 5K, scheduled for Sept. 28 in Leander, will benefit Texas Humane Heroes, a non-profit organization that works to place homeless dogs and cats in permanent homes.

Participants can choose from a 5K, a Dog Jog (bring Fido!) and a Kid’s K. All events take place at the organization’s adoption center at 10930 East Crystal Falls Parkway in Leander.

“By signing up to run the 5K, jogging it with their dogs, or getting children participating in the Kids’ K, participants can take part in a fun event that provides support to save animals’ lives throughout Central Texas,” said Eran Fehily, director of development for the non-profit organization, which is funded by donations, grants and modest fees for services.

It costs an average of $200 to prepare an animal for adoption, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, food and shelter.

Early entry fee is $25 for the 5K and $10 for the Kids K. For more information or to register, go to
