Because, really, who doesn’t love frozen juice on a stick?

The first-ever Popsicle Run is set for July 4 in the Plum Creek neighborhood in Kyle.

The chip-timed 4-mile race (1K and 3K options are also available) will weave past a golf course, walking trail, swimming pool and playground, and colored dye will be available in at least three places along the route. At the finish, you’ll get Popsicles, fruit ice and other frozen treats. Age group winners in the 4-miler will get medals.

All races start at Negley Elementary, 5940 McNaughton in Kyle. The 4-miler starts at 7 a.m.; the 3K and 1K start at 8:30 a.m.

Entry fee is $25 for the 4-miler and $15 for the 1K and 3K. Volunteers are needed. For more information or to register go to www.tinyurl.com/2014PopsicleRun. Course maps are available at www.plumcreekchallenge.com/popsiclerun.
