Glow Paddle, Run to Hear 5K and Reel Paddling Film Fest on tap

It’s another busy weekend …

  • Tonight, a fleet of lighted stand-up paddlers will take over Lady Bird Lake when Tyler’s hosts the first-ever Glow Paddle ATX. The event, which takes off at 8 p.m. from the Southshore SUP Dock on Lady Bird Lake, will raise funds for The Flatwater Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps provide people diagnosed with cancer and their families access to counseling and mental wellness. Paddlers are encouraged to wear bright paddling attire and carry glow sticks. Bring your own board or rent from Austin Paddle Sports, 2200 S. Lakeshore Blvd. Registration starts at 6:45 p.m.Entry is $40 for individuals ($55 with standard paddleboard rental, $150 with special glow paddleboard rental). For more information go to
  • The Run to Hear 5K starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at Lake Pflugerville Park in Pflugerville, 18216 Weiss Lane. Registration is $25 at Packet pickup starts at 7 a.m.
  • The Expedition School presents the ninth Annual Reel Paddling Film Festival, featuring the best whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP and kayak fishing action and paddling lifestyle films of the year, on Saturday. Doors open at 6 p.m. at Backwoods Austin, 12921 Hill Country Boulevard in Bee Cave. Films start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance at or $15 at the door.
