CASA Superhero Run moves to Cedar Park, set for Sept. 21

Last year I dressed in a Super Woman outfit and sped through the streets of Austin on the heels of other Spandex-clad runners in the CASA Superhero Run.

Somehow that spangly outfit helped me run faster than I’ve ever run - I set a PR and won my age group in the race. Even better, I met Super Man. (For real! And he winked at me!)

This year’s run, for which I’ve already registered, moves to Cedar Park. Race date is Sept. 21, and organizers say registration is down, likely because it’s moving outside of Austin for the first time in its five-year history.

Trust me on this one and make the trip.

Proceeds benefit CASA, a non-profit organization that advocates for kids who’ve been abused or neglected. That alone should convince you to register, but there’s more. Besides the superhero-themed 5K and Kids 1K races, the event features a superhero costume contest, a Batmobile pace car, villains to chase, high-flying superhero aerialists, bounce houses, a photo booth, superhero guest appearances, a dance party and refreshments. You’ll even be able to create your own comic-book action photos at the SuperSelfie station.

Registration and check-in are at 7 a.m., followed by the Kids 1K at 8 a.m. and the 5K at 8:30 a.m. To sign up or for more information go to
