The city of Austin’s Bicycle Advisory Council needs new members.
The council, which is made up of nine full members and up to 10 alternates, advises the city officials on all kinds of matters related to riding bikes. (Full disclosure: My husband Chris is a past president of the council and now serves as an alternate member.)
Any adult who lives or works in Austin is eligible to serve. Applicants must attend monthly meetings and participate in the council’s work. Terms last two years. Four full and three alternate positions are open.
The 2014-2015 membership application is available online at http://tinyurl.com/o6re9fr.
Applications are due by Oct. 12; elections will take place Oct. 21 at the regular Bicycle Advisory Council meeting.
If you have any questions about the council or want more information about what membership entails, contact Aleksiina Chapman in the city’s Transportation Department at 512-974-7834.
