Four months after it opened, Austin B-Cycle is adding new stations and enlarging existing ones due to high usage.

Officials say they’ll add second stations at the Austin Convention Center and the Rainey District, and put in new stations on South Lamar Boulevard near Barton Springs Road and at restaurant row on Barton Springs Road.

Existing stations at Fourth Street and Congress Avenue, South Congress Avenue and Academy, and on the north side of the Pfluger Bridge at Second Street will get four additional bike docks each.

The changes should be in place in early June, according to Austin B-Cycle executive director Elliott McFadden.

The bike-share system has logged more than 50,000 customer trips since it opened Dec. 21. So far, Austin B-cycle has sold 21,777 annual, semester, weekly, and day passes, according to a press release.
