Opal Divine’s on West Sixth to close at end of May

Opal Divine’s on West Sixth Street, the original location of the Austin-grown restaurant company, will close at the end of May, according to owners Michael and Susan Parker.

According to a release sent out today, the size of the 3,000-square-foot building at 700 W. Sixth “has become the limiting factor in the cuisine of the entire Opal Divine’s chain,” and the owners have their sights on a 5,400-square-foot space downtown that would replace the current Freehouse location sometime next week.

There are now four locations of Opal Divine’s, including the downtown restaurant, which opened in 2000.
