Cooking Up English, the nonprofit we wrote about a few years ago when it launched cooking classes to help non-English speakers learn colloquial English, has recently expanded to add Cooking Up Spanish classes.

Casey Smith, one of the founders of Cooking Up English, says that the organization has always wanted to provide an opportunity for English speakers to learn and refine other languages, and the four five-week series are the first such expansion. The first round of classes ($175 for five two-hour hands-on classes) started this week. The classes meet at Kitchen Ventures, 2600 Cesar Chavez St., and you can email cookingupspanish@gmail.com or call 415-694-0224 for more information on upcoming classes on breakfasts, tapas, salsas and holiday foods at cookingupspanish.com.
