Alton Brown brings ‘Edible Inevitable’ tour to Austin in January

Alton Brown is hitting the road.

The Food Network funnyman announced today that he’s bringing his “Alton Brown Live! The Edible Inevitable Tour to Austin on January 29 as part of a 40-city tour.

Brown, who has written seven cookbooks, tweets via Post-it notes and currently hosts “Cutthroat Kitchen” on the Food Network, has put together a show that will also feature “a multimedia lecture, live music (he sings!) and ‘extreme’ food experimentation.”

This is Brown’s first national tour, and it sounds like a hybrid between the quirky humor and culinary antics that won over fans of “Good Eats” and fellow comedian Gallagher’s notoriously messy show. (Guests in the first three rows get ponchos with their tickets “as a precaution.”)

The tour kicks off tonight in Palm Desert, Calif., and ends in Sarasota, Fla., in March. Austin is the only Texas stop on the tour.

Tickets ($39 to $100) for the all-ages show, which will take place at the Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater, are now on sale at
