Kiwanis peach sales raise money for local charities

Addie Broyles

The Northwest Austin Kiwanis club is hosting its annual peach fundraiser sale next month. For three decades, the group has sold boxes of some of the best peaches you can find in Austin. They don’t always come from Texas, but they are always the biggest, juiciest peaches that I eat all year.

Organizer Bud Baughman says that the first round of peaches, available for pick up on July 12 and 19, will come from Fredericksburg and Pittsburg in Northeast Texas, and the second batch in September will come from Colorado.

To pre-order peaches ($41 for a 22-pound box), go to or call 512-366-2887 by July 3 or 11, depending on the week you’d like to pick up the fruit at the Ross Dress-For-Less parking lot at 8038 Burnet Road.

All of the profits go to the Kiwanis’ many community projects. Customers can order the September peaches in late August or early September; the specific dates have not been determined yet.
