Austin360Eats: Tacos at Taqueria La Escondida
How often do errands determine what we eat?
Running around town to finish those pesky little tasks that no one likes to do frequently takes us to corners of the city we might not otherwise visit, but even if you’re checking off the to-do list in your neighborhood, it’s not uncommon to find yourself downright hangry, looking around for something decent to put in your belly.
Peter Tsai, the Austin blogger (thetastingbuds.com) who Instagrams @supertsai, turned just such a moment into a thing of beauty when he stopped at Taqueria La Escondida on Ben White Boulevard in South Austin. Last weekend, he was getting a tire changed at an auto shop next door when he popped into Escondida for a trio of hunger-busting tacos: barbacoa, bistec and al pastor. There are three Taqueria La Escondidas around Austin, and of all the tacos he tried, Tsai said the barbacoa was his favorite.
