‘Shadow of Mordor,’ ‘Smash Bros. 3DS’ new in games

New video games this week:

“Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.” — Set before “Lord of the Rings,” this violent game is about a resurrected ranger named Talion who’s lost everything and must build up enough skills to take on Sauron. Rated M for Mature. $60 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions due out in November.

“Super SmashBros. for Nintendo 3DS” —  The first portable version of Nintendo’s button-bashing fighting game comes to the 3DS with a huge stable of characters. It will have somehow interact with the Nintendo Wii U version, which won’t be out till December. $40 for Nintendo 3DS Rated E-10+ for Everyone 10 and Older.
