Arts picks: 'Ignite' dance and Susurrus scuplture

“Ignite: Three Works by Jennifer Hart.” Ballet Austin dancer Edward Carr and choreographer and Ballet Austin instructor Jennifer Hart have teamed up to form Performa/Dance, a project-based company dedicated to showcase the work of independent choreographers such as Hart. “Ignite” features three ballet-centered short dance piece by Hart, performed by Ballet Austin dancers. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Austin Venture Studio Theatre, Ballet Austin, 501 W. “Susurrus.” Scottish theater artist David Leddy customized his critically acclaimed musical audio play specifically for the Laguna Gloria site and new Marcus Sculpture Garden. Audiences listen on individual audio devices while following a map around the grounds. “Susurrus” is a sensual contemporary reinterpretation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” with the play’s narrative of love and loss laced with snippets about botany and birds. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, June 14-28.
