TV picks: Will 'Alcatraz' season finale leave us hanging? Probably

Dale Roe

Monday

"Alcatraz" 7 p.m., Fox: Will we find out why the 63s are coming back in tonight's first season finale, or will we be left to wonder during summer's solitary confinement? I'm betting on the latter: on "the rock," a cliffhanger can actually be a cliffhanger.

Tuesday

"Dancing With the Stars: The Story So Far" 7 p.m., ABC: Here's your last chance to get hooked before 8 p.m.'s first contestant elimination.

Wednesday

"Whitney" 7 p.m., NBC: Tonight's episode is titled "Something Black, Something Blue." Incidentally, that would also describe the shoulder of anybody sitting next to me on the couch who tries to pick up the remote and turn this show on.

"America's Next Top Model: British Invasion" 8 p.m., The CW: Should I watch tonight's installment, in which the contestants are covered - at a photo shoot - in maple syrup? I'm waffling.

"Quest for the Lost Maya" 9 p.m., PBS: I hope it's Maya Rudolph. And I hope the quest is unsuccessful.

Thursday

"Community" 7 p.m., NBC: Blanket forts are revisited while product placement goes to a whole `nother level with the introduction of a character named Subway.

Friday

"Kitchen Nightmares" 7 p.m., Fox: Season 4 ends in Chicago.

"Great Performances" 9 p.m., PBS: The San Francisco Symphony is 100! To celebrate, they make musicians blow out cake candles through their flutes. I hope.

Saturday

"Escape Routes" 7 p.m., NBC: A "Greatest Race" rip-off awards winners Ford Escapes. Get it? Remember when I busted "Community's" chops for product placement? Yeah, this.

"Kid's Choice Awards" 7 p.m., Nickelodeon: Will Smith hosts, and Katy Perry performs. Hmm … guess it's middle-aged dads' choice, too.

Sunday

"The Killing" 7 p.m., AMC: The slow-moving, non-killer-revealing series returns for a second season, and all those people who whined about the first season and said they would never watch again tune in to see if Rosie Larson's murderer is revealed.

"Academy of Country Music Awards" 7 p.m., CBS: Who knew country music had an academy? Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire host.

"Game of Thrones" 8 p.m., HBO: Season 2 begins tonight.
