Emmys red carpet reflects timeless looks with flash forward to fall
There was a clear fashion statement being made on the red carpet before the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards telecast on Sunday night: Classic, glamorous Hollywood style is back. (Well, did it ever go out of style?)
This time, there wasn't room for over-the-top creations. Sorry, Lady Gaga. There were plenty of pretty gowns that captured Tinseltown glitz and dresses that reflected many of the major fall trends, including sequins, textured fabrics and feathers .
Navy, red, white and a combination of black and white were some of the major colors of the evening.
Overall, there were one-shoulder gowns and sweetheart and strapless gems and statement jewelry and timeless diamonds in the parade of celebrities in Los Angeles.
The red-carpet looks ranged from "Friday Night Lights" co-star Connie Britton's classic sequined gown to "True Blood" co-star Anna Paquin's head-turning, Egyptian-inspired dress. The McQueen dress looked sexier than Paquin's nude, blood splattered cover photo in Rolling Stone magazine. In the end, it was a night to celebrate classic Hollyood style ... Betty White and all.
