Want a hot cup of coffee served to your exact specifications? Starting tomorrow, there will be an app for that — and a robotic coffee kiosk to deliver it to you.
Briggo has returned to the University of Texas campus, where it originally set up shop in 2012, with its Coffee Haus technology now inside of the Moojo shop on the Drag. It’s a pretty simple set-up: Briggo’s app will help you place your coffee order, and the robotic barista behind the scenes creates your coffee drink on the spot. Wait a minute or two, and the perfect cup will come steaming out of the kiosk.
The coffee haus’ grand opening had been slated for today, but given the icy conditions that have caused school and street closures and recommendations from meteorologists to stay home, that opening was pushed back to Wednesday.
The pilot installation in 2012 helped the Austin-based Briggo team perfect the product based on consumer behavior and other factors, including advances in technology. No matter how high-tech, however, Briggo sticks to the classics with ingredients — using a whole-bean Latin American blend, fresh dairy and gourmet syrups that you can choose from on the app.
“Our fully-connected, on-demand coffee experience is a perfect match for the modern consumer lifestyles exemplified here in Austin,” Briggo CEO Kevin Nater said in a press release announcing Briggo’s return.
Other Briggo machines will be launching in more markets soon. (There are already three at a trio of large tech firms in Austin, though the one at Moojo is the only current one open to the public.)
Moojo, located at 2322 Guadalupe St., serves gourmet ice cream sandwiches featuring warm cookies and all manner of add-ons. The Briggo Coffee Haus now inside the shop will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, though hours will soon extend to 1:00 a.m. (12:00 a.m. on Sundays) starting Feb. 5.
