Austinites have a new place to go for brunch cocktails starting this weekend

One of Austin’s newest coffee shops is giving us an extra reason to visit on weekends (as if we needed another).

Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden off South Congress Avenue has a new brunch cocktail menu, starting March 3, that will be available only on weekends until 5 p.m.

The bar and cafe, from lauded local music venue owner Paul Oveisi, has specialized in coffee, draft beer and cocktails thus far, but Oveisi wanted a menu of drinks just for the weekend that would also complement the menu items from the rotating selection of food trucks outside Cosmic, including the LeRoy & Lewis barbecue trailer.

“Our space lends itself to weekend lounging, and we wanted to offer a menu that embraces the decadence of sipping on a drink typically associated with brunch," he said in an announcement about the cocktails.

Here’s the new menu of brunch drinks.

Mimosa: sparkling prosecco, fresh orange juice

Bloody Mary: Vodka, horseradish Mary mix, Leroy & Lewis beet BBQ sauce, pickled veggies, smoked brisket jerky

Back in Black: Nitro 512 Pecan Porter with Nitro Cosmic Cold Brew

Michelada to Share: 24-oz Modelo Cerveza with fresh lime, hot sauce, Maggi Jugo and tajin salt. It comes delivered with a mini-cooler to keep all that beer cold.

Plus, launching in mid-March (just in time for South by Southwest) will be a dessert-like brunch option: the Cereal Soft Serve. It’ll consist of ice cream made with Fruit Loop-infused milk and served in a cake cone . Or, for people who don’t like cones, the ice cream can be served instead over Nitro Cosmic Cold Brew.

Cosmic is located at 121 Pickle Rd. For more information, visit cosmiccoffeebeer.com.
