Charles Ealy writes and edits stories about movies, books and the arts for the Austin American-Statesman. He has been a journalist since graduating from the University of Missouri in 1977. He came to the Statesman in 1981, where he worked until 1987. He then moved to The Dallas Morning News, where he worked until 2006, primarily in the business and arts sections. While at The News, he obtained a master's degree in humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas. He returned to the Statesman in the fall of 2006. He regularly attends the Cannes Film Festival and is a member of the Austin Film Critics Association.
