Readers share their memories of Austin legend John Kelso

On Friday, Austin lost one of its most hilarious voices. John Kelso, the American-Statesman’s longtime humor columnist, died from complications after a recent fall. He was 73.

Kelso started writing his columns in 1977. He retired in 2011, but he did not let a little thing like that stop him from punching up the pages of the Statesman with his everyman wit. His last Statesman column was published July 2.
