Austin historical commission votes to demolish Graffiti Park

Austin’s Historic Landmark Commission on Monday night unanimously approved the demolition of Graffiti Park near downtown.

The concrete walls and slabs covered in artwork by graffiti artists at 1012 Baylor St., near North Lamar Boulevard and 12th Street, is officially known as the HOPE Outdoor Gallery and was started in 2011 on the grounds of a failed residential development.

Read the full story on to find out when the wrecking crews are expected to arrive and how residents can support the new graffiti park planned near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
