Brittany Allen and Sergio Guadarrama — two designers with Austin connections — are competing in the current season of "Project Runway." Spoiler: The two were a team on the very first challenge of the season and they won!

Allen, who describes her aesthetic as "if Dolly Parton and Betsy Johnson had a baby and that baby was raised by Anna Wintour," has lived in Austin for five years and is a professor at the Art Institute of Austin. Guadarrama grew up in Cedar Park and now lives in New York with his partner in work and life, Kade Johnson. Their line is called Celestino, and Guadarrama says they come back to Austin regularly. (They dressed Billy Porter in that amazing pink and red look for the Tony Awards, the one that celebrated woman’s reproductive rights on the train.)

Allen, Guadarrama and Johnson came by Thursday to talk with Austin360 Radio host Amy Edwards about Texas, life, fashion and "Project Runway" — "We’re pretty biased, but we think it’s the best season yet," Allen said with a laugh, and Guadarrama says the whole cast got along well — before heading over to the Violet Crown for a special watch party. That starts with a reception at 7:30 p.m., followed by the airing of episode three of the show at 8:30 p.m. and a Q&A with Allen, Guadarrama and other guests, all moderated by Johnson. Tickets are $60 and the night benefits the Center for Child Protection of Austin.
