It's a few days into December and, if you haven't yet, it might be time to start considering what you're going to gift this holiday season and (less fun) how much you're going to spend gifting it.

But before you set that holiday budget, it might be helpful to gauge about how much other Austin residents are going to spend this year. Personal finance site WalletHub looked at indicators including income, age, debt-to-income ratio and savings-to-expenses ratio in determining more than 500 American cities' average holiday spending budgets.

According to the report, the average Austinite's maximum holiday budget is $806.

WalletHub calculated the highest holiday budget in Texas for Flower Mound, where residents will likely spend an average of $2,937. But that's not far off the budget for Frisco and the Woodlands: $2,836 and $2,833 respectively. Neighboring San Antonio was found to have a maximum budget of $560, while Dallas residents will likely spend around $579 and Houston residents $571.

The highest average budget in the country was calculated for Palo Alto, California at $3,160, and the lowest for Providence, Rhode Island, where residents are reported to have a maximum budget of $111 this year.
