Today might be National Cheese Day (as well as the less celebrated National Old Maids Day), but tomorrow, June 5, marks a slot on the "national day" carousel that you'll actually want to celebrate (without adding any inches to your waistline).

That's right -- tomorrow is the first Wednesday of June, Global Running Day, and whether you're a seasoned marathoner or have barely jogged a step since gym class, runners of all skill levels are welcome to join the 10th annual celebration at Austin's Global Running Day.

Jog over to the Austin American-Statesman parking lot at 305 South Congress Avenue at 6:00 p.m. Grab a map and some water, join the group stretch at 6:10 p.m. and take off on your evening run with some new friends at 6:30 p.m.

Please note that this is a social run, not a race! Organized routes vary between three and six miles on the Butler Hike and Bike Trail, though runners are welcome to adjust as needed.
