The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is hoping "Adopters Assemble" to help pets in need this weekend.

According to a press release, the shelter is over capacity with medium and large dogs due to storms this month. To clear out space, the shelter is hosting an Avengers-themed adoption special from Thursday through Sunday.

Fees for adult dogs and cats will be waived, and each animal will have current vaccinations, a microchip and a heartworm or feline leukemia virus test. Adopters will also receive a certificate for a wellness exam and food sample for their new pet sidekick.

"We need adopters with super hero hearts to save our dogs," Cheryl Schneider, the shelter's animal services director, said in a press release.

Prospective adopters can research available animals at wilcopets.org.
