It’s not everyday that Whataburger employees get to serve A-list celebrities.
Matthew McConaughey visited a Whataburger drive-thru for a bite to eat in San Angelo Monday and nearly went unrecognized until one employee noticed his last name on the credit card, according to San Angelo LIVE!.
The video of the Oscar-winning actor and Austinite’s encounter with the staff has received more than 1,500 total likes, shares and comments as of Wednesday morning. The video was posted by Whataburger employee Brooklynn Deanne Oden on her Facebook account.
"We asked if he was Matthew McConaughey and he said he was his brother,” Oden said to KTXS. “So we started talking to him some more and he finally says 'Y'all don't still think I'm his brother do you?'"
After receiving his food, McConaughey took pictures with the employees and said his patented catchphrase from "Dazed and Confused."
"He told me he would say 'Alright, alright, alright' if we got his food right,” Oden said. “So we triple checked it.”
Elizabeth Hernandez, who also works at the Whataburger, told San Angelo LIVE! that she and her coworkers were excited because famous people don’t usually come to San Angelo.
"We were just in shock,” Hernandez said. “We kept talking about it when we left work."
