The only hotel in Texas to earn a spot on Conde Nast Traveler's Hot List 2019 is in Austin.
For the past 22 years, “hotel sleuths” have visited hundreds of hotels and cruise openings across the world to find their favorite spots for Conde Nast’s Hot List. The Line Austin, located at the corner of Cesar Chavez Street and Congress Avenue, earned a spot on the list along with 16 other hotels in the United States.
According to the magazine, "The hotels that land on this list are the absolute best of the best; the game-changing, boundary pushing, vacation-making openings that are so good, we’re already dreaming about going back."
The team of contributors and editors for Conde Nast said that the Line was “the Texan capital’s most exciting opening for years,” and “a downtown slice of modernism for tapping into the city’s dynamic music and art scene.”
"Inside a modernist mid-century building, formerly the Crest Inn and known amongst city old timers for its in-house jazz recording studio, guest rooms are done up in neutral, earthy tones and have original works and books by Texas artists," the magazine wrote.
The hotel opened in June 2018 after a $75 million makeover of the property. Andrew Zobler, CEO of the hospitality company which co-owns the Line Austin, said in 2016 that the hotel would feature lakeside dining and other amenities.
“We think the property is possibly the best hotel location in Austin given its beautiful lakefront location, the views and its central location on Congress,” Zobler told the American-Statesman in 2016.
Ten other states also had hotels on the list, including California with five of the 16 U.S. properties named on the list and New York with two properties. The list also features hotels from countries like the Bahamas, Maldives, France and Mexico.
