Murals are getting a day of celebration, thanks to Pabst Blue Ribbon and a partnership with New York City artist Cey Adams. National Mural Day will be held on May 7, according to a press release.

In its partnership with Adams in launching the holiday, the beer company is hoping to encourage "artists, landlords and civic institutions to collaborate on creating new murals in their community." To celebrate, Pabst Blue Ribbon is creating a mural in Austin, as well as others in New York City, Philadelphia, Detroit, Nashville, Denver, Charleston, Portland, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta and more.

Adams, the founding creative director for Def Jam and known for his work with Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Jay Z and Mary J Blige, will also redesign PBR's packaging and 12-ounce can for the spring. Cey's designs will be available in late March.

"Pabst Blue Ribbon is a brand I always planned to explore in my work, and partnering to launch National Mural Day felt right," Adams said in the press release. "Murals and street art are an important element of my work. My hope is National Mural Day will become a platform for artists and their communities to celebrate art and its rich history."

The beer company has commissioned over 175 new murals in America since 2016, the press release said. Pabst Blue Ribbon is encouraging people to celebrate the "most accessible form of art" by taking photos of their favorite murals and sharing them with the hashtag #NationalMuralDay on May 7.
