Gluten-free restaurant and bakery Wild Wood Bakehouse has closed its Guadalupe location, according to a Feb. 24 Facebook post.

"We hope that you will continue to support our business at our second location, Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar," the post said. "Wilder Wood includes all of our signature menu items, plus authentic Mexican food, a dog friendly patio, and tons of event space. Baked items will all be available at Wilder Wood."

Wild Wood Bakehouse will merge with its East 7th Street location, Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar, and serve the same gluten-free food found at Wild Wood, according to a comment by the restaurant.

"It's a sad day, but luckily we have another location," the restaurant commented on their original post.

Wild Wood Bakehouse seemed to cite high rent as the reason for its closure in a comment, telling another commenter that the restaurants needed to consolidate and that "rent in Austin is insane." The Wilder Wood manager also cited a lack of demand for two locations.

"Running two gluten free restaurants turned out to not be functional financially," Wilder Wood manager Taylor Guillot commented on the post. "There just is not the demand yet for two, so all we are doing is consolidating the two locations. ... The (Wilder Wood) menu is 100 percent gluten free just like Wild Wood."

The restaurants will be celebrated the merger with Sunday buffet with brunch drink specials, according to a comment by Wild Wood. Customers are offered a 25 percent discount off their entire tab through this weekend at Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar.
