Millions of people are expected to shop on Black Friday, whether they brave the stores in person or make purchases online.
But if you want to shop on Black Friday, what should you buy? With so many of the United States' biggest retailers offering Black Friday deals, it can be hard to tell where the best deals are. Wallet Hub examined Black Friday ads from 35 of the biggest retailers in America and identified the stores with the biggest discounts.
The best store for Black Friday deals in 2018 is department store Belk, with an average discount of 68.9 percent on Black Friday sale items. JCPenney was second, Stage was third and Kohl's was fourth. The average discount across all 35 retailers was 37 percent -- not too shabby for those looking to save money over the holidays.
Here are the top 10 stores with the biggest Black Friday discounts:
Belk - 68.9 percent
JCPenney - 65.1 percent
Stage - 62.1 percent
Kohl's - 60.8 percent
New York & Company - 54.5 percent
Payless ShoeSource - 50.3 percent
Dick's Sporting Goods - 49.9 percent
Macy's - 48.7 percent
Fred Meyer - 45.3 percent
Shopko - 45.2 percent
Wallet Hub also broke down the deals by the type of goods you can buy, like clothes, computers, consumer electronics, toys and more. Supermarket chain Meijer had the biggest discount on apparel and accessories, followed by JCPenney. If you need a new computer, the biggest discounts will be at Lenovo, JCPenney or Office Depot and Office Max, but if you need consumer electronics, check out Fred Meyer, Academy Sports + Outdoors or Staples. For toys and appliances, Stage and Belk will offer the best deals, and the biggest discounts on furniture and packaged goods will be available at JCPenney. If you're buying jewelry for yourself or a loved one, Sears and Stage will have the biggest discounts. If you need books, movies and music, the biggest discounts will be available at Fred Meyer, and video game software will be the most discounted at Best Buy and Walmart.
