This time of year can inspire many people to give back to their communities. Here's a roundup of all the volunteer opportunities in Austin in November, just in time for the Thanksgiving season.

Central Texas Food Bank - Help inspect, clean, sort, box and prepare food donations for families in need in Central Texas ahead of Thanksgiving. There are also opportunities to volunteer in the kitchen, garden, mobile food pantry and other areas. Sign up to volunteer here.

Round Rock Family Volunteer Day and Non Profit Fair - The Volunteer Center of Williamson County will host a volunteer fair on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Alan Baca Center in Round Rock to benefit various agencies. Volunteers will help pack meals for Meals on Wheels, create holiday cards for seniors and others in need, make "Jars of Hope" to support survivors of domestic violence and children in schools that need support, and write letters and make small gifts for support individuals going through cancer treatment. Austin Empty Bowl Project - On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, local artists donate hand-crafted bowls, local restaurants donate soups and breads and local musicians donate their time and music, and the community comes together to purchase bowls of food to benefit Kids Cafe, a program of the Central Texas Food Bank, and Meals for Kids, a program of Meals on Wheels. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 18. Volunteers are needed to help in the bowl room, soup tent and kitchen, as well as for assistance with set up, clean up, greeting attendees and managing the line, parking, volunteer check-in, bowl washing, bowl wrapping and more. H-E-B Feast of Sharing - H-E-B and United Way for Greater Austin are teaming up for the 29th annual Feast of Sharing on Nov. 20, which provides Thanksgiving meals to more than 14,000 Central Texans. Two volunteer shifts are available from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help in various areas, from serving as wait staff and busing tables to working the children's area and gratitude wall. Hostelling International Austin - Help cook a Thanksgiving meal for international travelers staying in Austin. Volunteers will work in two- to three-hour shifts cooking to present hostel guests with a home-cooked meal. More details available here.

ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot - The 28th annual Thanksgiving race is in need of volunteers for packet pickup leading up to the race (Nov. 17-21) and various race day duties on Nov. 22. Sign up to volunteer here.

St. Louis King of France Catholic Church - The church on Burnet Road is serving hundreds of individuals in the Austin area. Volunteers are needed on Nov. 21 to prepare meals for the morning and on Thanksgiving Day to help in the kitchen, at the dessert table, at the drink station, in the serving line, busing tables and cleaning up. Operation Turkey - One of the few opportunities to actually volunteer on Thanksgiving Day, Operation Turkey delivers more than 50,000 meals to those in need across the country. There are several opportunities at various locations in Austin. Sign up to volunteer here.

Meals on Wheels - One of the most popular volunteer opportunities in Austin, Meals on Wheels delivers meals to the needy. A driver's license is required to volunteer, and volunteers must fill out an application and attend a training session, so make sure to register as soon as possible if you're interested.
