For more than 30 years, the Northwest Austin Kiwanis Club has been selling peaches to raise money for dozens of local community projects.

Thatís good news for Austin, but thatís excellent news if you happen to love peaches.

The Northwest Austin Kiwanis host two peach fundraisers every summer, one in July and another in September. Contributed by the Northwest Austin Kiwanis.

These peaches are always some of the best I have every summer, and if you want to try them for yourself, you have until June 28 to place an order at† or by calling 737-333-9592.

Bud Baughman, the Kiwanis Club member who coordinates the sale every year, says the Pittsburg peach farmers arenít facing the same troubles as the Hill Country growers this year. In mid-September, they sell a second round of peaches but they buy them from Colorado, where itís still too early in the season to know how the peach crop will be, Baughman says.

A 22 pound box of peaches costs $45, and all the proceeds go to those community projects. Youíll pick them up between 8:30 a.m. and noon on Saturday, July 8, at Anderson High School.
